How To Stay Dedicated To Your Music Classes
So you’ve researched the best music classes, you’ve gone to class every day, and you’ve dreamed of achieving your goals- but you just can’t find it in yourself to practice or push yourself to improve. This feeling is common, and can be difficult to conquer. It can result from a variety of reasons, such as self-doubt, impatience, or frustration at the time it takes to improve.
However, you signed up for voice or piano lessons for a reason, right? While it’s understandable to be discouraged, you can’t forget about your goals, and how impressive it is that you’re taking steps to reach them. Just by sticking with your music classes, you’ve gone further than most people. Now, it’s time to take the next step and consistently practice. It’s the only way to master a skill, and all the great musicians had to put in tons of practice to find their success.
If you’re having a little trouble motivating yourself, get support from someone you can count on. Often, your music instructors will be happy to explore different ways of motivating you and supporting you outside of lesson times. Friends and family are often a great source of motivation, too. This is especially true if they are currently proving to be a distraction, as simply telling them how important your music is to you may change their attitude and give you the space you need to put in the work.
You can also promise yourself little rewards for practicing or pushing towards your goals. Perhaps you can pick up your favorite guilty pleasure meal after your piano lessons, as long as you put in good practice all week.
However you are best motivated to practice and stay dedicated to your classes, we here at ROAR Music Studio are 100% behind you. Our music instructors adapt their lessons to better fit your goals, and can offer you the support you need to succeed.
